Train to Midway Airport

Ride the most convenient and cheapest mean of transportation to downtown!


Midway Airport is served by the Chicago Transit Authority's "L" trains, which runs to downtown Chicago and the Loop (travel time is about 20-25 minutes).


The Orange Line is the one that serves both downtown Chicago and Midway Airport.


Midway Transportation Center doubles as a stop for many CTA-run buses that serve the surrounding areas. Midway is one of the few airports in the United States that have rapid transit train to terminal service.


Opening hours: Daily, 04:00 – 04:30 am to 01:00 am.

Where is the station?

Midway Transportation Center is located east of the terminal building, at the Midway Transportation Center. It is connected to the airport main terminal by an enclosed walkway.




See below the fares to ride “L” trains:

Full fare: $ 2.50

Reduced fare: $ 1.25

Student fare: $ 0.75



Ventra Ticket

Ventra Ticket comes to be the suitable way to travel by any mean of transportation owned by Chicago Transport Authority.


There are different types of tickets:


  • Single-Ride CTA Tickets: 2 transfer to bus or train within 2 hours.
  • 1-Day CTA Tickets: Unlimited rides for 24 hours.
  • 3-Day CTA Tickets: Unlimited rides for 72 hours.


Please, note that these tickets are only for personal use.


On the other, it is possible to purchase a Ventra Card and load an amount of money to be used for up to seven people.


Ventra tickets and Cards are available at the ticket machines located in all stations.
